Unfair treatment to immigrant graduates. Some are more educated than Canadian graduates but are still not given opportunities to grow within the company.
Understaffed, work load is unrealistic. Asked to work on weekends.
LOW PAY - (to be fair most labs in the city pay the same for new graduates, hence it's worth working for the experience)
If lucky, you may end up working on an instrument if not you are stuck in the same repetitive role with laboratory assistance in digestion, weighing or pippeting. ( most immigrants are not given the opportunity to work on instruments therefore make sure when you get hired, if you will be weighing or if you will be given the opportunity to work on instruments)
Many employees were repeatedly assured they will be given an opportunity to work on instruments but never have over their duration.
However, if you come across the opportunity to work here. Definitely take it till you find a better one around the corner. Definitely a stepping stone in career growth in such a competitive generation.
