My experience at Agat was unfortunately not a positive one. Despite an appearance of collaboration, there was very little true teamwork. The culture is built on micromanagement, rigid policies, and procedures that often seem to exist more for control than for efficiency or purpose. There is no real flexibility or autonomy, and employees are expected to be available at all times — including weekends. For example, it's not unusual to be asked to submit reports or respond to emails on a Saturday evening, with urgency placed on response time rather than actual action. Some members of senior leadership have only worked at Agat and lack broader industry experience, which affects their ability to lead high-performing teams effectively from different perspective. There’s a heavy focus on compliance and reaction, and very little room for trust, empowerment, or strategic thinking. Strangely, some decisions from ownership feel disconnected from day-to-day operations or logic, yet they go unchallenged by upper management — even when they negatively affect people and processes. Boundaries between work and personal life are non-existent, and if your leadership style is pragmatic, human-centred, and collaborative, this environment may be frustrating. Newcomers, especially those from other industries, are often made to feel unwelcome from the commercial teams or unsupported from day one. Support from leadership is limited or non-existent, even when you're in a management role yourself. Rigid company. On a positive note, I appreciated the commitment of teams like HR, customer service, warehouse, and facility services, who were dedicated, kind and professional. If you're looking to grow, contribute meaningfully, and build a long-term career in a supportive environment, this may not be the right place. However, if you're seeking short-term employment and can tolerate a toxic environment and management temporarily, it might work while you search for a better fit.
