Vantaggi
Working under a $7B company umbrella means there are a lot of opportunities beyond just the role in the current business unit or company that of which one may be part. As far as large multinational conglomerates go, AMETEK acquires companies that are successful and does well to allow said companies to continue to operate as autonomous as possible*--doing as little as necessary to disrupt the paths of success prior to the acquisition. If you know find and how to use them, AMETEK has a lot of resources for individual improvement and growth. Overall, I am happy to share that I work for an AMETEK company. (*see #2 in cons)
Svantaggi
1. Running very lean causes turnover--which is how it has been since shortly after I was hired. Losing knowledgeable and hardworking employees (the latter often being hard to find with new hires) lowers employee morale and can make for an undesirable work-life balance for the rest, at the very least. 2. Being part of a very small company within AMETEK's vast and ever-growing portfolio, as a publicly traded company, I have observed additional challenges to ensure success in meeting corporate requirements for each Business Unit (and the companies comprising said BU) so as to present the best metrics and margins for shareholders. That said, this is in comparison to privately held companies, which have less opportunity for growth and come with their own challenges to maintain profitability.
