Vantaggi
Some of my co workers were great. until they were all fired. Provided an example of what not to do.
Svantaggi
I really wanted to like it at Ampco. When I first started the people were great. Little by little they were fired. Ampco had potential, but it became apparent very fast they they don't value their employees. They give you horrible benefits, treat you bad, and then threaten to sue you. By the way the business seems to be going. I think they may be trying to use lawsuits as an alternate revenue stream. They have to make up for their poor business decisions some how. The working conditions are bad, you never know what's going to happen from one day to the next. Most people there are new. I'm talking under a year new. Make sure you track you're PTO balance. Ampco doesn't list it on your pay check. Also on multiple occasions people have gone on vacation, and upon their return were let go. A new executive manager for accounting was brought in a year or so ago, and proceeded to try & run most aspects of the business. In my opinion Ampco started careening downward soon after. Ampco Contracting & Ampco North all use the same office staff, & management for the most part. There is almost no separation between union & non union business. Glassdoor has them listed as a 100M-500M company. I bet they wont pass 40 million mark this year. A more realistic calculation would be 15M in my opinion. I'm interested to see how they pay their monthly obligations. I suspect they are struggling to make payroll, and keep the lights on. Don't even think about asking for a raise. You most likely will be fired. That was the case for one person I knew. He asked for a $1.00 an hour raise, and was terminated for it. I was told they wanted to make an example out of him... They love to fire people, it's all smiles and laughter when they do it too. I wouldn't be surprised if the executives high-fived each other. It's interesting that when anyone leaves they get talked about behind their back. You'd think they were the worst person in the world if you didn't know them, or that they said the same thing about the other 20 people they let go of last week. They've done some pretty huge layoffs, We're talking around 100 or so people within the last 6 months. I've yet to hear them say anything good about a former employee. Come to think of it, its rare for them to say anything good about current employees. It's been comical watching them react poorly, throw temper tantrums, and make poor decisions. You should hear them in the weekly sales meetings. run away from this company.
