Vantaggi

They still have the 911 contract in Riverside for all those enamored with being a "first" responder. Maybe it looks good on a resume for future emergency or medical field jobs? The coolest co-workers with minimally supervised downtime. This means you can study and/or be on your phone. Even when it's busy I'd say most of the job is talking with your partners or looking stuff up on your phone.

Svantaggi

EMTs are in a dangerous field and deal with lots of literal poo (though less than nursing) up to and including death. We are underpaid! Though better paid than most other private ambulance companies. This ends up equalling steep Union dues for an incompetent union that doesn't do much except trying to bargain with severely limited leverage.

Vantaggi

Career growth opportunities, supportive coworkers, opportunities to learn and develop, ability to advance if you stay engaged and work hard

Svantaggi

Healthcare/EMS can be demanding, long hours at times, stressful days, and workload can be heavy depending on staffing and operations. These things aren’t specific to AMR, that’s our industry in general.

Vantaggi

AMR San Mateo is making huge strides in changing the Old Boy culture of EMS. The operation is collaborative, cares for its employees, and acts with accountability.

Svantaggi

Although it's much better than it was, AMR San Mateo still deals with staffing issues, primarily for medics, and forced mandation is still in play.
