Vantaggi
Great pay and benefits, only in Denver under the union, but you had to put up with a lot BS!
Svantaggi
Other employees that had been employed longer had a self entitlement complex. So much so that they think you work for them! They don't want to help anyone else out but expect others to do their jobs, the dedicated customer service representatives were specifically the worst! Alot of clique's with snotty, rude, and beyond stuck up individuals, who worked there too long and made it hell for any new people. Especially if you didn't make the cut to hang out with the "cool kids". It was like reliving high school drama all over again. Micro management across the board was a living nightmare, bosses coming out of their offices yelling at people to get on the phone and take calls, pop up chats constantly asking you to get on the phone because you've been in prob/resolution mode for 3 minutes, being questioned and belittled for "taking too long in the restroom" or having to take time off to go to doctors/dentist appointments because if you can't make it back to work in the allowed time frame you'd get in trouble. Management and Union were constantly opposing one another, making it hard for employees to know the correct processes to handle work situations, i.e. sick time, vacation, tardies, etc. One manager even told a rep, "the union may represent you, but you better remember you work for APL". Management would constantly play favorites with the "clique's/dedicated reps". No inter department comradery, customer's yelling for answers to problems, but yet can't get anyone to answer phone call or emails. Scottsdale port ops were the worst followed by transportation, they felt above you and would answer calls only to hang up on you to get you to stop calling. Customer Service was faced with resolving all customer related issues but could not due to having to reach out to other departments/teams that had no sense of urgency in getting issues resolved in a timely manner, why would they, they weren't the ones getting screamed at, no support from management here either. Relocating to Nashville to work was a complete joke, the company could have cared less if anyone from Denver went, salaries cut in half and no relocation package. Overall, the worst job experience to go through as your first full time job out of college. The golden chains were what kept me here so long, until the relocation to Nashville.
