•A lot of trash talking and gossip that is told to other employees and eventually makes its way to management. •A majority of managers have no experience working a flagging operation whatsoever. •Work can be sporadic - we essentially contract out to construction and utility companies. •You don’t know your schedule until the night before, with Sunday being the only day you’re “sure” to be off. •Can’t call-off for any reason within your first 100 days of employment without being fired. •Work full-time hours with none of the benefits until you’re made “full-time” after X amount of hours. •Union does not care about you at all. •Some partners are decent, some are outstanding, and others make you want to quit right then and there. •The stress of motorists not following instruction and/or not paying attention is very real and it will get to you sometimes (I didn’t think it would - it does). •Too many employees treat it like it’s just a paycheck and it needs to mean more to you than that. •You have to pay for your training and they don’t reimburse you for your steel-toed boots. •Some contractors and supervisors are going to treat you like an idiot, others will help you out. Hit-or-miss.
