A lot of people rave about the culture at AbCellera. Perhaps in the past it was different. So many meetings discussing the same topic because no one wants to make a decision - everything is done by consensus. It's been preached that the best ideas win - but only if the senior management thinks it comes from them. There is little openness and transparency about how decisions are made beyond gut instinct. Management wants employees to come up with many options and many iterations of options to be presented to them so they can make decisions instead of thinking what they actually want up front, and having people who know what they are doing provide a recommendation. Everybody is afraid to say something not-positive to the management team for fear of a grudge.
