Vantaggi
-Very good work life balance if you are in security -The projects are monolithic in the security practice, and tend to be easy targets. As a result, I never worked more than 40 hours a week, and usually worked a lot less. If you are new to security, you can find plenty of projects to sharpen your teeth on-- its a great place to learn the basics of web security. - The people are extremely friendly, and in the sec practice, toxic people were rare and quickly removed. -Upper management is very approachable-- minus their North American lead. That man is Ex-Deloitte and vicious. - I was in a weird position where I was dramatically underpaid for what I could be doing, but seriously overpaid for what I was doing. - Really great 401k matching - great PPO health insurance -Lots of opportunities for remote work. - The Boston office is absolutely gorgeous
Svantaggi
-The North American Lead. -The work is boring, easy and repetitive -No variety in projects ( assembly line style application security) -Little to no technical talent. I was by far one of the most technical people on my project, and I have 1 year of experience in cybersecurity. That is bad for a number of reasons-- the largest of which is there are no technical mentors to learn from. - You will be lied to. You will get hired, and promised a seat at Defcon/BlackHat and they will find a reason not to send you. They flew me out to Las Vegas During Blackhat, then decided last minute they didn't have the budget for me to attend the conference. So I basically sat around in Vegas for a week doing nothing-- which I guess could be a pro ? -They make horrible decisions with training budget. I went to a malware reverse engineering bootcamp that cost 15k a head, and had no technical content (ie, no coding, no reversing...etc) - the Laptops. It took me 6 months to get a capable of running a virtual machine. This was infuriating- and I was the exception to the rule. - Your promotion is based heavily on your career counselor. Mine missed my promotion call and there was no way for it to be rescheduled. As a result, I got passed up.
