Vantaggi
Best parts of working at AccessOne were the people and the 'product' that AccessOne produces. AccessOne truly works hard to create options so that people can afford healthcare. The people (worker level, not management level) are amazing. Whether its the contact center staff, the support desk staff, the engineers, the QA... they are all really amazing people who care about doing great work well.
Svantaggi
To start- they are top heavy. More managers, Directors, VP's, than a small company could possibly need. This creates a real chasm between 'management' and 'staff'. And they continue to promote the managers higher up the ladder even though the managers don't do their job very well while the 'staff' continue to just work away in the trenches without any real appreciation or promotion. Secondly, they are poorly managed. (and with all the management they have.. this makes no sense) Everything is last minute, hurry up and wait, we wanted it yesterday. Projects are not prioritized in advance so teams get to the end of a project and are sitting around waiting for the next set of tasks to begin. Road maps are announced and reviewed, but the items on the road map are not what you actually end up working on. Third, appreciation is never given unless you are one of the 'favorites'. There is a lot of talk about reward and recognition, but the company makes it harder and harder to appreciate your fellow worker. And management rarely appreciates anyone in the technology area.
