Vantaggi
A lot of really good people who work hard & care a lot. Benefits are good. State College is a pretty cool place to live. Good place to gain experience in multiple areas of the company.
Svantaggi
The biggest con is Joel Myers. So many of the issues at AccuWeather stem from things that he has done or decisions he has made. He's responsible for AccuWeather's terrible reputation in the weather industry. He's responsible for AccuWeather's terrible reputation as a place to work because he treats everyone he works with like they're incompetent and worthless. HR and others under him do nothing to push back on his insane demands. Because no one ever says no, employees are rushing around trying to do whatever he wants instead of focusing on well thought-out and approved roadmaps. Hard to ever accomplish anything when you're constantly trying to fulfill impossible demands. Shift workers are largely forgotten about, although improvements have been made in the past 6 months or a year to include them in other office happenings. Numerous people, even whole teams, have been laid off or let go recently. There is never any communication to the rest of the staff about this, so a) there is a lot of uncertainty and fear about job security, and b) we don't even know who to turn to or ask about certain things because people are just gone. It's seemingly impossible to let go of people who don't carry their weight, but other, higher performers can be let go with no notice because of restructuring?
