Management – A poll suggests that leaving a bad manager is the number one reason why employee quit, it’s absolutely true and the sole reason behind very high level of attrition in this company. The top management is two faced, while they speak for the benefit of employees and how they can support us, they instruct immediate managers do the exact opposite. Compassion is nonexistent among middle to top management. Managers don’t even hesitate to call subordinates “slaves”, they treat you like a commodity they have bought by paying salary. If one is in disagreement with the manager or skip manager, they will be just shut down. No manager is ready to listen to one’s constructive feedback. Only way to succeed and grow within the organization is to “suck up” to you boss and skip level. Majority of managers are incompetent and they have given team just based on their “loyalty” to the middle-top management. Even people who have been hired as managers are not given team, while favorite managers handle 3-4 teams at a time. HR and Management – Employee’s safety is not even their least priority. The managers and HR are not even concerned for their female employees, who work late and leave office at 1 AM in the morning. Grievance redressal is a joke in this company, they don’t take any action against the culprit no matter how grim the crime was. Appraisal - The company has appraisals discussions just for namesake. The appraisal (hike, bonus or promotion) purely depends on how good you are at bootlicking. Your immediate manager would encourage (directly ask) bootlicking to stay relevant to them. Notice Period – The attrition rate is too high; 3 months of non-flexible notice period is only way for the company to retain its employees. Despite disappointed, some employees stick around for years only because they were unable to get out. I have noticed, employees start looking out for the new job right after joining the company. Open door Policy - It is unfortunate that there is no avenue for skip-level discussions and a way to share one's disagreement with immediate managers. A feedback is almost always viewed hostile and discredited. Even senior level employees cannot reach out to department head (director) without a formal appointment (which you usually won’t get).
