Vantaggi

I love working at Acumium, and appreciate the effort that has gone into ensuring a wonderful work environment and culture, full of great people who work hard and genuinely care about the clients we work with. As with most places, you're expected to be a responsible adult professional who gets their work done. At Acumium, you're also *trusted* to be that responsible adult professional. Legitimate trust in your employees often seems to be overlooked, but not here, and it's something I value very highly. Part of the excellent work/life balance is management that understands life happens. Whether it's a doctor's appointment you've had scheduled for a month, an unexpected sick family member, or one of those awesome service appointments with a 4+ hour window, as long as you're getting your work done, it's ok. For professional growth, you're not only encouraged to pursue ongoing professional and personal development, you're provided with access to the resources to do so. If the resource isn't already available, you can request it, and cost reimbursement is available. Attendance at industry conferences is encouraged, as is being vocal in the industry via blog writing, networking, speaking at some of these conferences or talks, and more. The company also encourages innovation, so if you're looking for opportunities to work with new and ever-changing technology, you'll find this to be a fantastic place. Management encourages open-door communication, and prides itself (as it should) on giving every member of the team a voice. They want everyone to feel involved in the current and future state of Acumium. I sincerely appreciate being able to offer up ideas freely and know they will be given serious consideration. Every day you'll find people working hard, always ready to help each other out if the need arises, because we're all committed to providing the best possible product for the client and their customers. You'll also find a lot of laughter, a relaxed dress code, games of ping pong, monthly staff breakfast/lunches, spontaneous group outings, visits from four-legged guests, and occasionally the need to dodge a nerf dart, just to name a few of the additional perks. I feel the CEO and management truly care about each and every team member, and it shows.

Svantaggi

As of yet I honestly haven't experienced any cons. I suppose for some, the fast pace could be a challenge.

Vantaggi

By far the best part about working here is being surrounded by people that are on the top of their A game. The company seeks out people who are not only skilled, but passionate about what they do. We have a strong Dev team and the beginnings of a strong marketing team. We have an open office, and it's a really strong culture. by far the best culture of any place I've worked yet. People tend to work long hours here, but it's because they love what they do, and they are focused on their work. The atmosphere is that of what you might expect at a startup company out west. People are encourage to work on projects that they feel needs to be done, there is a ping pong table in the Dev room, NERF guns scattered everywhere, and a PA system that can be hijacked by connecting to it via Bluetooth. Work events consist of lunches, ping pong tournaments, video games, and drinking.

Svantaggi

I really don't have anything bad to say about Acumium at this point. The culture is open that if there were any issues I would bring it up with a team lead, and address it on the spot. I would warn any n00bs that it can be a lot to take in, and the team as a whole has a lot of pride in what they do, so if you're not willing to commit a lot of your effort into honing and perfecting your skills you might want to shy away. Also if you don't like to learn, aren't willing to share information as to how things work, or figure out root issues when they occur then I would also stay away.
