Vantaggi
- Tech company so lot of perks if you're going into the office - Stock discount is awesome if you max your contribution you can make a lot of money this way. Although makes taxes complicated. - You get a sabbatical of a month off every five years. - Has really great maternity/paternity benefits - They have a benefit where they will match your volunteer/donations to charities which I thought was really cool.
Svantaggi
- Super hard to move to new positions within the company that moves within your team. - Massive corporation so you often get treated in mass rather than as individuals (understandably, but sometimes means policies are punitive) - I'm a woman and I worked in the Utah office. I dealt with a ton of sexism. If you're a woman working in Utah you deal with this everywhere but I thought working for a tech company I might not deal with it. Unfortunately some of the most sexist comments I ever received in a professional setting happened here and I often felt uncomfortable- plus it's one of those things that sometimes when you report stuff like this it just ends up being more uncomfortable afterwards. Quotes from my previous boss or boss' boss: "You're here to break up the sausage party" or "When are you planning to have kids?", "HR was really putting pressure on us for being an all male team", "You're going to have to start watching NASCAR and the NBA to join in" (just assuming I didn't watch sports but full disclosure I don't lol). Oh and getting told to ask a less senior coworker who was working on their BA while I was finishing my graduate degree that I should ask advice on projects/assignments; 100% told me this because he assumed my male coworker was more senior/educated. I also found that if I asked questions in meetings they went unaddressed but if I sent the same question to my male coworkers to ask in the meetings they were resolved almost immediately. These people did end up leaving Adobe before me but it did sour my experience.
