Vantaggi
Pros •Very flexible schedule. •If you’re a new grad in your early 20s and you want to knock out the first 2-4 years of experience at a chill company where you do lots of miscellaneous tasks and have plenty of time to go play in the woods and go skiing; this is the perfect job: everyone enjoys this lifestyle benefit from top to bottom. •Managers are laid back and forgiving of ineptitude and mistakes. •High performing employees and researches can be “seen” and occasionally get to do something cool in a laboratory.
Svantaggi
Cons •Many staff members top to bottom seem only do minimum effort and abuse the lifestyle-job flexible schedule. •immature product lifecycle and no associated long term support or accountability: and related: Very little new product development or robust commercial growth, mostly just new flavors of the same core technology in the spirit of perpetual research and making small batch prototypes for commercial customers. •No formal job titles or clear job responsibilities, or clear hierarchical structure: almost every employee is hired into a technical staff generic pool and people are moved around after the fact, reporting only to 1-2 out of 4 clearly define managers and everyone else is equal rank with an unspoken narrative that experienced employees should be consulted for basic process training, all impactful decision making is consolidated into only about 1-2 out of 4 individuals based on the subject. •There is no intentional recruiting and staffing process, mostly scraping new grads and referrals from local university. •benefits package is lacking
