Vantaggi

I love the people and the work. No one works here because it's just a job. We are clear on who we are and our mission to support grassroots. the partner work is fulfilling. Staff work hard and are a lot of fun. Several people have been promoted internally over the years so room for growth. good benefits too.

Svantaggi

Pandemic has been hard without traveling and onboarding people we haven't been in relationship with.

Vantaggi

-Mission driven colleagues -Beautiful office across the street from Echo Park Lake -Learning opportunities for state and local policy work -External equity lens -PTO -Structured and organized -Opportunities to work with amazing grassroots organizations and a wide array of other partners

Svantaggi

-No HR department so there are so many instances of harassment that get swept under the rug. -Failure to complete an insane amount of work is blamed on “time management” issues -Especially during the pandemic, not accommodating to parents. -No growth opportunities; they created additional “tiers” for management including “senior manager,” meanwhile their front facing staff don’t have access to promotions into management. --Some promotions do happen but only for those who don’t question nor have any negative feedback about the org or their leaders, even if it’s factual, objective feedback. -Low wages (comparable to other similar orgs), except for management. -Inequitable distribution of projects and opportunities. - Prefer to hire Ivy Leaguers and those with law degrees fresh out of school with little/no experience over people with actual community and/or policy experience. -In dire need of a union to represent employees. The DC office has it but they’ll never allow the LA office to do the same. -MASSIVE turnover. -No exit interviews. -Will not hesitate to exercise at will and fire for no reason. -They would rather hire not as competent outsiders than promote their highly qualified staff. That happened to a few of their people this year.
