There's a great group of people at this company - work-hard-play-hard mentality. Have made some of my best friends here and enjoy connecting with people across all departments. Days are NEVER slow, so it's a good fit for people who like to stay busy and challenged with new destinations and a constantly-evolving industry. Conversations with Adventure Life travelers are overwhelmingly positive - you're helping to plan a vacation, after all! After the initial 6-12 months probationary period when not all benefits are offered (typical for any company), the benefits are really solid - charitable gift matching, travel stipend for Adventure Life trips, good time off, wellness stipend for extracurricular activities / gym memberships, etc. On days when the work is challenging, I'm thankful for my teammates and supportive work environment. Overall love working here and am excited to grow with the company.

Great mobility for admin staff to move into operations or sales pretty quickly (if desired), though not much opportunity for upward movement in operations. Upward movement in sales means learning more and more destinations and selling higher dollar value trips, more flexibility with schedule. This is a desk job. Not necessarily a con for me because that's what many of us are used to, but something to be aware of if you're coming from the outdoor industry working in the field. Yes, we get great opportunities to travel to Peru, Antarctica, Galapagos, SE Asia, you name it - but your day-to-day work is on the phone and behind a computer. Don't be surprised by this! Most positions in this company are customer service oriented, meaning you are interacting with our travelers on a daily basis. Again, overwhelmingly positive or at least neutral interactions, but expect the occasional curmudgeon who will rub you the wrong way. Must have thick skin from time to time and learn to navigate difficult situations with professionalism. More of an FYI or skill requirement than a con, but something to be aware of. This is a rapidly-expanding company, which is an exciting time to get your foot in the door! Growth has been steady and exciting milestones are reached every few months. Along with it comes the typical growing pains of being understaffed and knowing when to hire more people (high workload). Staff size grows every few months but with some HR policies still stuck in the mom-and-pop small business stage. Benefits or policies initially designed for flexibility for the 20-some employees but now sometimes nebulous and confusing or lacking structure with 40+ people.
