Svantaggi
Recently the company went through some pretty big layoffs (which I was a part of). This comes shortly after aggressively hiring. Some people were laid off despite being hired only 6 months ago. Clearly an error in judgement was made when so many people are hired and then quickly fired. Obviously revenue and funding did not match expectations. The process by which the people were chosen to be laid off seemed unclear. Apparently the direct managers were not even aware layoffs were occurring and received the announcement at the same time as the laid off employee. It makes the process seem random, like they drew names out of a hat. When I interviewed for this company they insisted that I even speak to the CEO. Everyone meets with the CEO. When I got laid off I didn't get a chance to talk to even my direct manager. I just woke up one day and couldn't sign in to my devices. Makes it seem like the whole "people first" culture they portray is fake. I'll try not to be bitter. All I can say is that these layoffs are a really bad sign. The company is already struggling to deploy. Randomly eliminating a big portion of the workforce will buy runway, but will also set back the schedule. Unfortunately, I think the set back will be bigger than the runway gained. A few people that got laid off were the only ones working on their respective projects. Picking up the pieces from that will be hard. The issue with the company is that the product is 90% there, but that remaining 10% is critical. The system is buggy and doesn't do well at reporting what is wrong. These issues won't be fixed any time soon because it requires a change in perspective. A lot of the people who got laid off were actually the ones trying to fix these issues, unfortunately...
