A lot of companies brag that they have a family atmosphere. Usually, that's all it is, talk. Air Lift is different. People there, particularly those on the second floor (sales and marketing), have a definite affection for each other. It's genuine. On a lot of holiday weekends, the president will send out an email telling everyone to take an extra day off or send people home early. Few people work more than 40 hours. The HR team has done a tremendous job building a sense of camaraderie amongst a diversified group of employees. The company regularly wins awards as a top workplace. For some jobs, entire teams will get to interview candidates. Then they all sit around the conference table and tell the hiring manager which person they should hire and why! Benefits are very good. There's bonus program based on company performance. The company is growing at a rapid pace. It's a family-owned company, but the weird thing is none of the family members work there. The company regularly and freely shares its performance – and not just percentages, it gives the actual numbers – with the employees. They have a vision statement and a set of guiding principles that are regularly referenced by management. When I interviewed for a job at another company before going to Air Lift, I asked about culture and the lady looked at me like she didn't know what I was talking about. At Air Lift, it was half of what they wanted to talk about. Culture and fit are very important there and they take it very seriously.

There are some people who are difficult to work with, but really, that's everywhere. I've heard people complain that the pay isn't good enough (I got a small raise from my previous job and got raises each year I was there, so the complaints weren't by me).
