Vantaggi

- Great teammates. Everyone is aligned towards a common vision. - Great communication between departments, and no "silos" - Expectations and KPIs are clear - "The best idea wins" culture/mindset... no hubris or arbitrary decision making based on subjective, unknown factors. - "We're all learning together" culture/mindset -lots of experimentation and failing upward.

Svantaggi

- Lack of tolerance for complacency... if you're looking to cruise and be laid back about progress, this is not the place. - Aggressive, but not unreasonable, growth targets.

Vantaggi

- Innovative product and some great colleagues in the company - CEO is visionary and open to new ideas - Fast interview process (though rushed; you must clarify team expectations early as there are many unwritten rules) - Learned valuable lessons about managing expectations, workplace red flags, and psychological safety - Felt relief after leaving due to the psychological toll

Svantaggi

- Poor experience due to immediate team leadership, not the company or CEO - Public ambush from VP being secretly invited during 1:1 check-ins, creating a psychological unsafe environment - Payroll error on first paycheck, with no apology - Promised onboarding plan was not followed; expected to contribute immediately without adequate ramp-up time - Many unwritten expectations (e.g., time off reflects poorly on you, 9–5 active Slack status despite HR saying 10-3pm and otherwise flexible hours) - Micromanagement and tracking (e.g., Slack status, checking Google Doc history) created a culture of distrust - Feedback was inconsistent and contradictory (e.g., told to over-communicate, then discouraged from doing so) - Use of AI tools increased unrealistic expectations despite known flaws - Innovation discouraged within the team - Denied time off and let go for supposedly not taking the job seriously - Overall, poor alignment with team leadership and a lack of support for success

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience. We’re genuinely sorry the internship didn’t meet your expectations and appreciate the opportunity to reflect. Startups, especially in a space as fast-moving as AI, can feel intense, particularly in roles close to the product and go-to-market motion. These roles often operate at the “eye of the storm,” where urgency, change, and learning curves are steep, but so is the potential for impact and growth. While we try to be transparent about that during interviews, we know it can be hard to imagine what that looks like day to day, especially early in your career. Our goal with the internship was to provide meaningful responsibility, growth, and a path to a full-time role. When challenges arose, we worked to offer more structure and support including regular check-ins, collaboratively set goals, and feedback. We understand those efforts may have felt like pressure or micromanaging rather than helpful, which was never our intention. At the same time, there were some broader challenges – including frequent unplanned time off, repeated missed timelines we had aligned on, and inconsistent meeting attendance – that made it hard to provide a consistent and productive experience for both you and the team. Our priority was always helping you succeed, and we stayed committed until it became clear it wasn’t the right fit. We appreciate the effort you brought to the role and wish you the best as you continue exploring your path. – Alexi Team
