As stated many times below, bullying is not tolerated and there are official ways in which you can bring this kind of behavior to the attention of HR. If you have a grievance, you are encouraged to bring this to the attention of your HR Business Partner.
In relation to the gossip you mention, what you see on social media is not always real life, and people's online profiles sometimes do not tell the full or true story. This is also true with regards to promotions where there appears to be a lot of hearsay, and posting online about what a colleague said or did only adds to the 'gossip' you list as a con above.
Town Hall meetings address company performance as this is an important indicator of how the company is doing and how secure we all are in our jobs. Improving the mechanics of how our company works is part of the AES survey and follow up actions that are taken. We hope you enjoyed the Town Hall on the 24th October where some of these items were discussed.
Regarding responses to reviews on this site, HR is a busy function, we mainly focus on the day to day tasks that keep our company moving. If responses are delayed it is because we are working on improving our employees' experiences.
