Vantaggi
Over time I would say this list quickly dwindled down to a few things: - The people: you will meet some of the greatest people here. I still have great friends from my early days here. - Resources: there are amazing ERGs, professional development opportunities, and publications you have access to - Offices: the office spaces are great, with lots of free snacks, drinks, and happy hours -Autonomy: you are empowered to push your career as far as you want to take it here
Svantaggi
The AlphaSights I joined, back when employees actually were actually put first, is gone. Do not expect to be respected for your opinion, your experience (even if you have 3+ years over others on your team), your time, or be paid what you are actually worth. In order to make this easier to digest, here are all the cons I can write down about working here: - Profits over people: don’t even try to talk to leadership about any issues on your team (i.e. team morale, feeling burnt-out, etc.). You will be told that you don’t need to worry about it or that “this isn’t for everyone” - Work/life harmony: a joke, you will work more hours than you are signing up for. Post-COVID leadership claimed they were going to make it better but then went back on their word and increased days in-office to 4 - BURNOUT: You will, without a doubt, get burnt out working here. I haven’t met a single person who currently or formerly worked here and wasn’t experiencing a crazy amount of burnout and guilt from it. - Leadership: Claims to be transparent with employees, but they keep things from you and your team. After 5 years of constantly trying to meet unrealistic expectations from my leadership, I started having actual anxiety coming into work not knowing what version of my manager or department head I was going to get. - Work: If you are CST, your job is sales; don’t let them tell you any different. If you are on a specialist team, get ready to be seen as less than the CST folks and constantly pushed aside when leadership is reconsidering policies. Your base salary will also always be lower than CST, a sales role in which they also receive a high compensation in addition to their base salary. - Tech stack: If you are on a specialist team, do not expect to be given the right tools to help you get your job done effectively. You will spend 70% of your job trying to accomplish something in spreadsheets that could easily be done in a tool, but the company budget is prioritized for CST and engineers. Overall, AlphaSights is overpromising a positive experience and actually provides one of the most stressful and negative work environments I have ever been a part of. I used to rave about working here and would recommend to anyone, and now I yell run anytime AlphaSights is mentioned.
