Can be an okay place to get your career started. Average pay, average benefits. Low accountability

After grossly overpaying for 1/3 of JUUL, this company went off the deep end. First, the new management team gutted 20% of the organization. Then in 2020, Altria became very "woke" and extremely toxic. A ton of talent left (and the good ones continue to leave), and were replaced internally by less-experienced professionals since Altria cannot recruit good outside talent. Those who get promoted are the ones who will parrot company messages, not the ones who deliver business results or foster an actual culture of inclusion. The people who won't quit are directors and above, who generally lack the skills to perform in role but remain there because of office politics and not based on business results they deliver. What remained when I left was a cult-like attitude towards Inclusion and Diversity, general confusion on company direction, and a toxic culture. Robust discussions on business performance are rare. You aren't really held accountable to anything. Leaving was the best decision I made during my stint at this company.

Salary is very generous for it to be a “sales” position. You get a company car that you can use any time for any purpose. Completely eliminates the need for a personal car payment. You’re left alone to do your job as long as you’re doing your job correctly. Support and recognition from leadership has been top of the line. This isn’t your typical sales position where you must meet objectives or else you’re ran out of the company. The brand sells itself and if you can’t sell the product Altria carries, this probably isn’t the job for you anyway.

The only con so to speak would be the workload that we have but if you’ve ever worked for a large corporation, you know objectives change almost daily. Yes, it can feel overwhelming at times but coming from a cut throat sales environment, I’ll take this “pressure” all day every day.
