As many startups, there are financial difficulties, however, honesty is always the best policy, and sadly American Robotics has dishonest leadership, plain and simple. This is my experience, yours may be different. Any future employees know, you will be seen as a means to an end and will be taken advantage of under the guise of their being a payoff of vast opportunity after your sacrifice. This isn't true, it never was, and once you've made the sacrifice the only thing you will be given is a weeks worth of severance. If you are a prospective new hire, and it is around Mar/Apr (especially for field role that promises more), run away.
