- 3 months of ridiculous and nearly endless discussions to get paid for the second half of a website, which I had translated for one of their clients – a (surprise surprise) financial consultancy. The consultancy refused to pay the agency a dime, as it had found several "mistakes" in the translation –just as it had disagreed with the translation of its brand new company brochure done by a professional author and native English speaker. I had even billed a slightly lower rate, since the 2nd part of the job was supposed to be easier and faster – yet it turned out to be quite the contrary...
- Management still doesn't seem to appreciate the added value of language service providers, namely saved time and money – as opposed to DIY in-house translations with the help of "bilingual office staff". Yet concise and vigorous text has been proven time and again to drive sales.
