Vantaggi
There are some open-minded and forward thinking teams within the company. You are in luck if you end up working for them.
Svantaggi
Overall, the Employee benefits department is very hierarchical. Those that have been in the company for a longer period of time tend to throw their weights around junior employees (even if you do not belong to their team). As a result, learning is quite hard for the more junior ones. Questions asked were merely cast aside with statements like "Just do as what I told you to do", and if you ask questions on why the seniors do things in a certain manner when it comes to your work, it is deemed as though you do not respect them or that you are being "rude". I find it really hard to learn to my fullest potential in this kind of environment. There are also certain leaders that use fear-mongering tactics to get work done around the team, which is pretty unhealthy and unsustainable in the long run. Many times, the reason why do we things is because we scared the "boss" will get angry, and not because we understand why we have to do it. Even though Aon is an MNC itself, the employee benefits department very much behaves like an SME in Singapore. Hold your horses if you think you are joining an MNC here.
