Appfolio has committed and dedicated management, they have always placed a strong interest in developing your skills and challenging you to the limit. As the company has grown, I feel like I have grown tremendously too. Based on the needs of the company and leadership recognizing my skills, I have been through 3 departments over the past 4 and a half years. I have appreciated the support and drive our business leaders have invested in each one of their employees, as long as the employee works as hard as you can. Hard work pays off and patience and perseverance is key. I am apart of the millennial generation and I have seen co-workers hit the 6 month wall of "I want a promotion, I want a raise, I need [blank] to be happy" and they leave the company and just go to another just to be experience the same thing and starting back at the bottom to work up the totem pole. However, the best thing to do is preserve, have patience, build relationships, and work hard. Instead of running to something else that may seem greener on the other side. Appfolio has given me the opportunity to achieve my goals and build relationships with wonderful people. Our culture is the one thing that I love and it carries through leadership, our customers, and our co-workers.

Frequent team outings and social events that help build relationships across the team. Generally a friendly, social environment!

The property management team is highly competitive when it comes to promotions, and I’ve seen BDRs remain in the same seat for years or eventually leave, as internal advancement opportunities can be limited. However, for top performers, there is promising upside, and you get to work with some of the best leaders in the organization. On the investment management team, leadership quality is more uneven, and there appears to be a lack of management experience, which has created gaps in coaching, accountability, and overall team development. As a result, performance outcomes have lagged, with the majority of BDRs and AEs struggling to consistently hit target. Team turnover has also been notably high, and leadership engagement only increased after a large portion of the team had already decided to leave, which by that point felt too late to rebuild morale or trust.
