Vantaggi

If you thrive under constant surveillance, zero trust, and leadership that confuses micromanagement with “vision,” you’ll love AppZen. Toxic doesn’t even begin to cover it. Managers are less like leaders and more like hall monitors with a God complex directed from the C-level to do their bidding. Burnout is a badge of honor. Work-life balance is a myth. AppZen doesn't want your ideas, just your obedience. High turnover for a reason. The best people leave fast; the rest stay silent or broken. HR is there to protect leadership, not employees. If you report anything to them fully expect it to go right to leadership. It happened to me and others, totally unethical behavior. Every day is a pipeline review. Ironically the pipeline would be moving more if there wasn't more pipeline reviews and QBRs to prepare for everyday. This is driven by paranoid dilution in sales leadership and a glaring weakness to the future state of the company.

Svantaggi

Every day feels like "Groundhog Day in Hell". Same chaos, same dysfunction, just with a new meeting invite and it only gets worse every day. The toxic energy is palpable. You don’t walk into work, you descend into it. Micromanagement is constant. Autonomy doesn’t exist. You’re a robot, but less trusted. Leadership thrives on fear, not inspiration. Morale is nonexistent, and motivation comes from trying to avoid being the next scapegoat on a forecast call. HR is useless — unless you're in leadership where you have immunity. No clue why there even is HR at AppZen. All they do is onboard new employees and terminate them a few months later. The company could be much more profitable if there wasn't an AppZen HR department as they certainly serve no human purposes. It's embarrassing and even they know it, sadly, but continue to follow orders of their dictators. Zero regard for employee well-being. Burnout is expected, personal boundaries are ignored, and “time off” means “just check Slack a little.” Communication is a disaster. Decisions change weekly, but no worries, no one will tell you until it’s too late. You’re not valued here. You’re tolerated until you push back or break down. Then they replace you and pretend you never existed. The culture? LOL They tried to do "Camp Zen" every year which was already massive waste of time and money. Employees could be selling during another lost week which they are already restricted in doing. This company makes no sense and maybe they try to make themselves feel better about themselves in some way by taking more personal and business time away from employees? Don't try to figure it out, it's diabolical.

Thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts—all of them. It’s clear you had a difficult experience, and we’re genuinely sorry it left you feeling this way. We’ve read your review (and your five-part exit plan for the company), and while we may not agree with the characterization of leadership or our team culture, we also don’t dismiss the frustration behind it. Fast-moving environments can sometimes tilt toward intensity, and that’s something we are actively working to manage better. You clearly have strong opinions, however some of the assumptions made here don’t reflect the full story behind how and why decisions are made—on people, processes, or, yes, Camp Zen (It’s not a cult. It’s an offsite). We don’t dismiss employee feedback—critical or otherwise—and yes, we’ve heard the concerns around micromanagement, turnover, and trust. We’re actively working on these, even if it doesn’t always show up overnight or in the form of fewer meetings (we’re trying, promise). Leadership may not always get it right. That’s true. But equating structure and accountability with “micromanagement” or suggesting HR’s entire purpose is ornamental might say more about perception than policy. We also want to make it clear that HR isn’t here to protect “dictators” or replace employees with robots. Are we perfect? Absolutely not. Are we aware of the areas where we need to grow? Very much yes. We genuinely wish you well in your next role. May it come with fewer meetings, more clarity, and hopefully some peace. All the best in your next chapter.

Vantaggi

Great products and visionary leadership. Always at the leading edge of technology and innovation. The best part is the culture and great people to uphold the values.

Svantaggi

Nothing I can think of. The situation is very similar to the other startup where efficiency matters most and high throughput is expected. So everyone is expected to deliver aggressive timelines with the usage of AI tools.

Vantaggi

I’ve been in People Operations here for over four years as an individual contributor, and overall, it’s been a very rewarding experience. The biggest pro is the opportunity for growth. I’ve consistently felt challenged in my role and have been given new projects and opportunities that have pushed me outside my comfort zone in a good way. If you’re someone who wants to learn quickly and take on meaningful work, there’s plenty of room to do that here. I’ve also been able to see the impact of my work pretty immediately, which is incredibly motivating. The people are another major highlight. The team is collaborative, supportive, and always willing to jump in to help. There’s a strong sense of partnership across teams, and that makes even the busiest times manageable.

Svantaggi

It’s definitely a fast-paced environment, and you have to be quick on your feet. Priorities can shift, and you need to be comfortable operating with some ambiguity. That won’t be for everyone. But if you thrive in an agile, high-energy environment and enjoy being challenged, this is a great place to grow and build your career.
