Vantaggi

Decent coffee machine but we would never hear the end of how apparently expensive it was.

Svantaggi

Most issues come back to the CEO, never before in-person have I seen such a blatant example of someone who must have failed upwards their entire life without ever being questioned or self-reflecting. Management was always kicking and screaming against the changing expectations of a modern workplace and I don't see this company surviving much longer because of an unwillingness to just meet the bare minimum. Very much a 'no one wants to work anymore(even though we are offering nothing to be competitive)' kind of place. The client I worked for used Appsoft as management and admin-did not even last a year. The floor fell out from under everyone with no notice, even with new hires in the middle of relocating. I would hope the CEO felt bad about everyone who was unemployed due to his poor management but in my experience, he was one to blame everyone but himself. After all, he still had a job as an overpaid executive who can barely write a coherent email and he never has to worry about affording his sports cars so I think that's where accountability or empathy ends for him. I've worked for old-fashioned companies before but never one so hilariously incompetent. Direct deposit took several months to set up and I had to guess whether a physical check was going to show up on time. CEO was constantly trying to take over creative roles because it was 'so easy' but never once demonstrated any skill in the area(imagine your grandparents trying to use photoshop). Most of creative's time was spent trying to fight or make the best of his bad ideas. Communication was abysmal with little to no chain of command. CEO was directing everyone in a million different directions or would seemingly just outright refuse to communicate with others and no one could get on the same page. There was no effective(emphasis on effective) project management so those with completely unrelated jobs were forced to step in and tack it onto their workload. There was no HR to speak of to report the racist and sexist comments made about employees and candidates, not to mention some from the CEO himself. The CEO just clearly had contempt for nearly everyone who worked for him and made his money. It would get out that management thought we were all overpaid despite plenty of us making below market rate and nearly all of us were struggling to afford to living anywhere near the office. Of course, there was no option for remote work because the CEO was paranoid that we would try to work multiple jobs without questioning why we would need multiple jobs in the first place. PTO was originally advertised to me in my interview as 'as needed' but I would find out later there was actually no time off for the first 6 months(through one of the worst COVID surges on top of general cold and flu season) followed by some outdated accrual model. This was specifically advertised to us as a generous offer meanwhile the rest of the offices in the building were empty the week of Christmas and we were the suckers still working. Not sure if anyone besides the CEO knows exactly why the company folded but my best guess is the backers just decided it was less trouble and even cheaper to get the work done overseas as a lot of companies do. I would find out after taking the job that the financial backing had some legal issues with similar business ventures in the past so I wouldn't rule that out either. All I can say is more than one coworker compared the work environment to the movie Boiler Room. Probably does not need to be pointed out that the positive reviews are more than likely written by CEO's order, no one I worked with had a positive view of the company, certainly not 5 stars, and those who were willing to stick it out got burned in the end.
