Contractor-heavy setup reduces stability. Most people work as contractors, which can make job security feel uncertain and offboarding feel easier/faster than in a typical employment setup. Unclear role and success criteria. Job responsibilities and “what good looks like” aren’t always well-defined, which can make performance evaluation feel subjective and leave you unsure whether you’re meeting expectations.

Do yourself a favor and don’t even interview here. I left a while ago and still feel like I’m recovering from the experience. The founder has no real prior work experience, and it shows. The amount of gaslighting, micromanagement, and outright disrespect is intense. Turnover is insanely high. Almost everyone is hired as a contractor because they know they’ll fire people quickly. It’s common for someone you worked with one day to be gone the next, with zero explanation. If the board expects to recover their investment, they seriously need to step in.

The founder are extremely inexperienced and it shows. Hostile and toxic culture created by the founder; resulting in high employee churn; lack of trust from founder which led to micromanagement; often hindering your ability to perform in your role. Lack of accountability or ownership often led to public shaming and blaming of individuals or teams. The company suffers from a serious retention problem, directly linked to the toxic leadership. Constant shifting of priorities and disregard for employee feedback create a chaotic and unproductive work environment. The company does not respect employees’ personal time and boundaries. Staff members are often required to work 12-hour shifts without overtime pay, and employees who decline overtime risk losing their jobs. Employees are presented with contracts containing share options that lack transparency and appear heavily weighted in the company’s favor. Sharing personal matters with leadership can reportedly be used against employees and may lead to termination.
