Vantaggi

I worked at Schlosser Forge, part of Firth Rixson, which was bought out by Alcoa/Arconic about a year or so before I left. It was a seamless transition. The team at Schlosser stayed in place, and was a strong friendly team to work for. Arconic allowed for more flexibility in benefits and locations, and were willing to allow for more job opportunities.

Svantaggi

I was not under Arconic long enough to notice any real cons. That said, nothing significantly improved with the takeover either.

Vantaggi

Good benefits including a strong 401k match. The company places a real emphasis on safety, which is important in a manufacturing environment. There are opportunities for professional development and advancement for employees who are motivated and willing to take on additional responsibility. Many teams have experienced employees with strong technical knowledge, and there are chances to learn a lot about large-scale manufacturing operations. Overall a stable company with structured processes and clear expectations.

Svantaggi

The culture can feel somewhat typical of a large corporation, with a strong focus on metrics and production targets. Some strategic decisions can feel short-term focused, which can create frustration at the operational level. Communication between leadership and employees is not always consistent. Like many manufacturing companies, employees can sometimes feel more like part of the system than individuals.
