You can make suggestions always, nothing is "sacred." Sometimes, you get to see your suggestions implemented immediately, other times it takes patience. But rarely do you see an improvement that helps the clients (or the employees) completely ignored. Also, management up to and including the upper levels, really see and care about the employees as people. I've personally experienced a situation where I was encouraged to be there for an ill family member so completely that they insisted that I didn't remotely login. And when I was ready to come back, they pressed to be sure I didn't need more time off. The other employees are, for the most part, bright and contentious. It is easy to get along with just about everyone, and truly enjoyable to work with many of them.

The industry is complex and dynamic, so the learning curve is steep and ever-shifting. The company runs lean and has grown rapidly, which means training and internal support has taken a backseat. The ability to figure it out and make it happen on your own is a must. And for a job well done, the reward is usually more work. But not necessarily a correspondent increase in pay, unless you negotiate for it.
