Some departments and managers are very flexible and understanding. Lots of great coworkers and they do have fun events regularly.

They completely under value their employees. If you ask for a performance based raise, you will be given the same annual pay increase of a measly 1-3% as everyone else. The catch being, you need to be perfect to get the full 3%. There are very few perks above compensation unless you really like team building events and bowling. You get only 2 weeks vacation for the first 5 years. There is no clear path for advancement. Expect to stay in the role you start at through the duration of your employment while watching them hire new, under qualified people at a higher rate. There is no structure or clear direction from upper management. You are expected to know your role inside and out with little guidance or training. Favoritism is blatant. Open positions go unfilled for so long that other employees naturally absorb the workload and it is never redistributed properly. There is little collaboration or support between departments. If you bring up issues or concerns, they are never addressed. Basically it’s one huge free for all.

Too many projects for such few resources. Lack of recognition and compensation. Upper management micromanages the team and pull in timelines to meet revenue goals rather than commitments to the customer. They say they want the best engineers and managers, but they dont pay well enough to keep any of them. Lots of inexperienced people puts pressure on those who are experienced to constantly train new people. Management too slow to act on promotions and compensation on the rare occasion that it does happen. All those decisions are made by one person and if you are not in their good graces, start looking for another job. There are so many good people that are suffering under this regime.
