I joined over a year back when I wasn't even actively looking for a job. A friend convinced me to drop by the office to meet the co-founder. That one conversation was enough to spark my interest. I was particularly taken aback by the fact that everyone sat and worked together in the main hall, there were no cabins or cubicles (I was new to the startup world, and coming from a bureaucratic organization this was a pleasant surprise). As I found out more about the work and culture, I was amazed. One year later I can say that nothing much has changed. Pretty much everything I was told stands true. It's far from the perfect organization- there are a fair share of daily challenges. What's different is that everyone works towards a solution, rather than merely sitting back and cribbing about it. Being a holocracy, everyone is responsible for themselves and their work, ensuring time and energy isn't wasted on following meaningless protocols and reporting structures. Further, there are few organizations out there that care so deeply about it's team members and their growth, and want to build an organization that everyone owns rather than one with a traditional employee-employer setup. The team is diverse and supportive, so it doesn't matter what you know or don't know- everyone's there to help each other grow! The work being done has high impact - which means that you never feel like your hard work is going in vain, and are exposed to sectors and stakeholders that few startups have access to or get to work with.

It's a growing organization and so has it's fair share of challenges. Hiring the right set of people in order to build a team that works well together through the highs and lows is crucial, which means having a robust hiring process- something that the organization constantly strives towards- is supremely important. While it's fairly long compared to most other organizations, it only ensure stay both the candidate and the organization are well versed with each other and confident that it's a right match. I remember coming in for over 3 in person meetings over the course of a month. However with each meeting I only understood the organization and work better, which strengthened my conviction on why I wanted to work here. I would advise applicants to look at the comprehensive (albeit lengthy) hiring process more as an opportunity to understand what you're getting into, than as a con! Being a startup and doing high impact work also means putting in the required hard work to ensure high quality work is delivered. Since there are no traditional managers/ reporting structures, or official work timings, a lot of the onus lies on the individuals taking full responsibility to get the work done. This may mean occasionally putting in some unearthly hours to ensure one is on track, but this more often done voluntarily than because one has to. Further, the team equally respects each person's need to take time off work to rejuvenate and get their grey cells recharged, which more than makes up for that occasional dinner you missed because some unexpected deliverable came your way!

Making sure that we have an open and inclusive environment where the team is happy and close-knit has always been a priority, and I am glad to see that it's paying off. I agree that we have our own share of challenges on our way to becoming a better organization, and we are taking them down one at a time. Yes, there are days when people in the team work extra hard, putting in extra hours to make something possible, and it's on such days that all of us feel extra proud to be a part of this team.

The culture rewards those who push themselves, and you can feel that everyone around you genuinely cares about the mission. Amazing place to develop quickly and learn in an AI-native environment.

Will work you to death. Nonstop every waking hour of your life will be spent working. Weekends, evenings, mornings. Literally all of your time. Management will have no idea your doing this because they have no visibility into what people are doing. They are strictly reactive, relying on bad data, poorly constructed AI summaries and cultural/gender bias to form opinions on employee performance. They are rapidly trying to replace as many employees as possible with AI tooling. There’s no less than 5 AI tools constantly confusing everyone and changing the code base actively. No one can keep up with this, and it’s destroyed trust with the customers. This place is a complete mess. Management would rather cheerlead the AI overlords rather than face the fact that this system is not working, and needs to be fixed from the top down.
