Too much bureaucracy and lack of trust by higher management in their employees making them micromanage and require approval for every single decision. This method made store operations extremely slow and inert which negatively affected sales and profitability. Lack of leadership and transparency caused Auchan in Iraq to lose ground and competitive edge on the market. Consequently, Auchan left Iraq blaming franchiser company (SI Retail, part of SI-CP group) for failure and franchiser blamed Auchan; but, all at expense of it's employees who were left stranded in Iraq without explanation or fulfilled contractual obligations and barely enough money for airplane tickets home. Top management and franchiser investors disappeared and left the Iraq branch without money and with angry partners and suppliers who were not paid for their services. No person deserves to be treated in this way and I would not work for Auchan ever again and in any country they operate in...
