Some of the best reasons to work there is maybe the same reasons to work anywhere - Steady work, Good pay and benefits -seemed competitive w/ other Trucking companies (Until cuts in health Ins. or Retirement (401k,IRA's,Savings plans) changed or reduced Co. matching) It must of got to expensive for the Co. so you ended up working more & more to keep the same cost living lifestyle; while maybe the profits (small or big) are made by the Co. owner(s). Pleasant work environment as any trucking company driver job can be. Very well maintained, clean Equip.- All the employees (washbay, shop, dispatch, mngmt.) were very generous and amiable people; some have been there for a very long time. There has also been a turnover of workers about the norm for any Trucking Co. I don't know what else I can say except to see the other reviews on Glassdoor for this company. As for my experience there [at AVALON Express] The pros definitely outweighed the cons; And I would also like to add that there were times when I wanted to leave (quite) because I felt burned out (From the long days or weeks plus some sleep deprivation) with getting my CDL-A in 1994, and driving Truck until 2005 or so (About 10 straight years, which might not be much compared to those who spend three or more decades driving- I applaud those who can do it. Sadly I would have to agree with the other review given for this company -I think that driver was there for just 1 year....and I believe it was how s/he was treated and therefor only really shared the downsides of working there. For myself, I felt I did get along good with everyone and took pride in my job, and did my job to the best of my ability....But there were many times (more & more as time went by) that made me feel like ... I was being treated wrong / uncivil. I should put this under cons' From day one I remember as I was getting a tour of the place and the equip.(Newer Trucks and the trailers & such) I was walking beside the BOSS as he proceeded to almost yell (raising his voice) as he told me about working there {a side note: This is someone who I knew and worked for about 8 years earlier and who was my boss for 5-6 years}...continued below...

The DOWNSIDES of working there, [for me- And Maybe for others as well]- was basically what I recently discovered [what I think] was an excellent report/article titled CIVILITY IN THE WORKPLACE. I came across this article just a few months ago in June 2015, which was only a month after being terminated from Avalon Exp. It made a lot of sense; and so My simple answer that I would feel I need to share on the downside(s) or cons of working here has to do with civility, and not just in the workplace - I honestly felt my boss or co-workers treated me More civil and respectful outside of work then they did at work. ....continued.. from above (pros) I was telling about my boss talking so loud to me when I was standing right next to him [my boss] along with the shop supervisor, after the three of us finished up this short tour for me and the boss left, I asked the shop sup. 'how come the boss was shouting / raising his voice so loud to me when I was standing right next to him? Without any noisy distractions, and he was able to hear me when I talked to him in a "normal' soft toned voice- so I don't think he was hard of hearing which would maybe make him talk that loud / raising his voice... When I asked the Shop Manger./Sup.{who was a great worker and kinda young-28-? for a supervisor}. He quite about a year later after Being there for a few years before I started. Besides how the Civility was or is, or maybe isn't as bad there anymore, It sure did seem to affect the overall moral around there , which can sure make someone question if they want to continue working under those conditions. And it sure seems prevalent in many workplaces or certain industries...Or maybe it's just those like me who get picked on or are kind-of put in there place by those with more authority and power or even narcissist behavior. Am I the only one who thinks this way?? How does someone like me work under those circumstances. Even though the management is very caring and generous- It just seems that it takes about half a dozen uncivil-uncalled for acts to cancel out only one generous act
