* reasonable pay * good hours * easy work conditions * fairly tolerant of personal needs * comfortable building, reasonably good work environment * employer understands need for and provides break times

* management has zero concept of the word "plan" * everything is run pretty much in a knee-jerk reaction type of way * management doesn't know how to prioritize (i.e. you get assigned ten "top priority" items)

I worked in IT and it was a total mistake, the CIO should be fired. I didn't know I was replacing someone who just got fired because he challenged him, he later sued them for wrongful dismissal and the company settled fast. I was also fired for no good reason, as was the next guy after me. The owners are doctors and they think they are god; the place is no good for anyone in IT, and the pay is low. The environment is fear and blame, with lots of office politics. Its usually places like this that get their name on the BC top 50 employer list. Be warned.
