Vantaggi
BIOS is a great place to work for many reasons: - Meaningful mission: addressing high unmet need chronic diseases - it's one of the only true bioengineering companies around, and could have a life-changing impact on millions of patients. - Huge potential for growth: The technology is groundbreaking and the business model means BIOS will be the next big thing in Techbio. The team is already aggressively hiring to try and staff all the internal and external projects. - Strong culture with a great team: BIOS is filled with people who are extremely intelligent and knowledgeable but also kind and fun. Because of the complexity of the business, we have people who are experts in all types of fields: ex-CERN electrical engineers, ex-NASA project managers, ex-Pharma Drug Developers, ex-Professors of Data Science and Machine Learning... These different backgrounds are what make BIOS such a diverse and enriching experience. We genuinely enjoy working together, learning from each other, and hanging out in and outside the office. People share their knowledge, time, and are always willing to lend a helping hand. - Challenging work: We are trying to solve some of the hardest problems in biology, engineering, and data science, so it's always exciting to come to work. Especially when you know it's in the service of a powerful mission to tackle chronic disease. - Work-life balance: The company really respects work-life balance, and offers flexible working options. They encourage employees to take time off, work when they are most productive, and there are plenty of activities to celebrate both big and small moments (birthdays, holidays, etc.). They even offer options for sabbaticals and extended time off to employees who have been at the company for a longer period.
Svantaggi
Like any start-up, there are some drawbacks: - In the past, the team wasn't always sure what the roadmap was to achieve our ambitious goals, which was not helped by learning how to work remotely mid-pandemic. However, after some restructuring and much focus from leadership, the team is now much more clear and aligned on our goals and how to get there. - Sometimes there are resource constraints for everything that needs to get done, which can feel overwhelming, but it also means that everyone is working on things that really matter. Especially at the senior level, the amount of responsibility the leadership team takes on means it's sometimes hard to push things forward, but this is something they are aware of and are hiring to try and remediate. As more middle management and individual contributors join the company, it will also become easier for leadership to focus on strategy and growth, and let their teams focus on delivery.
