The culture is generally great, people are outgoing and friendly. If you’re shy, this job will definitely bring you out of your shell. I found host, coach and team leader roles to be ideal uni jobs while I finished my uni degree.

Getting promoted to Assistant Venue Manager/Venue Administrator felt like being promoted into a cage unfortunately. Nearly every day was repetitive admin work with no real power to make change. I took the role under the assumption that I would have the ability to significantly improve staffing levels, but after realising that the company wouldn't budge on the budget I mentally began to check out, it was extremely demotivating. It taught me that an increase in responsibility (often mostly admin) often comes wrapped in a false sense of power to make change.
