Vantaggi
- Don't ask for ridiculous hours - good work/life balance (even for a part-time job). - Overtime available. - Occasional staff incentives. - Friendly staff team. - Area Manager (Graham ... Jones? Name escapes me) was very friendly and approachable. - Opportunities to become supervisor if you wanted to. - Successful staff members (e.g. good at sales, good KPIs, etc) given chance to help colleagues by sharing their own techniques and methods.
Svantaggi
- Incentives are lacking and not that exciting. - Sometimes feels like H.O. aren't that interested in looking after staff - particularly working conditions (broken aircon for ages resulting in being way too cold in winter/too hot in summer). - Could identify/reward great customer service/KPIs/sales more often. - Expected to recruit new customers to a Burton Account Card - which is a credit based account. It does have a limit but selling a credit card on the shop floor can put pressure on staff who are less able at selling and it feels a bit wrong to tie someone into a credit agreement in such a rushed fashion. - Manual handling not always considered properly. E.g. carrying heavy 'totes' (delivery boxes) up a very narrow staircase resulting in back pain because it was too narrow to lift the boxes correctly.
