Vantaggi
An inspiring vision with the potential to do a lot of good. It's fulfilling to be motivated not by turning a profit but by trying to improve the audience's lives.
Svantaggi
BYU Broadcasting and BYU in general are consistently sending messages that they don't value their employees. Pay is drastically lower than the industry standard, arbitrary rule structures are prioritized over employee circumstances 99% of the time even at the cost of the work being produced, there is little opportunity for advancement, and little cross-departmental collaboration. The organization leans heavily on "it's just a privilege to work for a a company led by God" to draw talent, rather than going to any lengths to make it an appealing place to work compared to its competitors. Which would be more tolerable if there wasn't such back-breaking pressure to compete at the same level as those companies. Absolutely no diversity practices. White people and men are always prioritized in hiring. Also, student employees are underpaid and undervalued, regularly ignored by HR and the company when they make their meager attempts at "employee appreciation."
