Good if you just need a job to make ends meet
Svantaggi
- we offered mortgages to costumers however our pay is so low in retail banking that we cannot get one ourselves. Shameful. - managers take offence if you ask them to help out in banking hall even though their job description clearly states they need to actively pitch in. They turn up just for tick in box for ten minutes a day in certain flagship branches in west London. In fact they bark back saying “you should work smarter so you don’t need extra help” - I complained about a member of staff who verbally and physically abused me-and when I went to manager to complain- the managers answer was “oh no please. Not today. We have the hot shot directors coming down today...... we can’t afford any issues today” - a lot of managers are power hungry and can and will pull up staff for not smiling in morning meetings. It’s insane. Iv seen someone get ticked off for not looking interested because she wasn’t smiling for no reason in morning group meeting. The managers feel they can pick on people for sake of it - it can be very demoralising and depressing working in an environment where manager have petty mentality. For example being barked at by counter manager for doing something she does and her pals at work. But if someone they don’t like do it- they will shout at you and when you complain to branch managers........ they brush it under carpet and tell you to grow up and not take offence. HOW CAN ANYBODY BE EXPECTED TO WORK IN A PLACE WHERE YOUR TOLD OFF FOR TAKING OFFENCE WHEN THINGS ARE THROWN AT YOU AND YOU FEEL VICTIMISED. Awful demoralising culture. Iv seen managers watching someone laugh, then managers will say “have you not got any work to do?” There’s a culture of not wanting people to be happy. They want everyone as miserable as they are themselves. Iv seen managers sit in banking hall and gossip with their mothers who pop in during their shopping trip. Iv seen manager play with her kid in banking hall (which managers mother brings in during shopping trip) whilst the bank is full of customers - But god forbid that anyone of the cashiers laugh or talk amongst one another in banking hall...... they get a ticking off by manager for not being professional. Hypocrisy. That’s why I left and I’m now working as a manager in another financial institute and I’m more happy and more healthy emotionally.
