Best company I've worked for so far - Recensione dipendente - Machine Learning Engineer presso Basecamp Research

I'm finishing my two year tenure at Basecamp Research and I leave with nothing but gratitude and respect for all the brilliant individuals in this organisation. I was the 7th employee and I had the privilege to witness the journey leading up to BCR completing its $20 million series A funding round and subsequently scaling up afterwards. An incredibly ambitious company aiming to build a graph database of life on earth, operating at the interface of the AI, genomics, graph analytics, ethical data, conservation, and building trusting diplomatic partnerships with biodiversity guardians across the world. The potential of this database should not be underestimated - much of the microbial life on earth remains unexplored and the chance to find new biological solutions to much of the worlds problems is very real - from powering a green economy, yielding new therapeutics, bolstering food security, and more! My time at basecamp was some of the best years I've had so far in my career. I had space to develop my skillsets in cloud, data engineering, bioinformatics and machine learning within a supportive team of ambitious, highly skilled, creative & very technically minded individuals. It was very challenging - the pace of how fast this space moved is incredibly fast - but the amount of professional growth I've had here is priceless. Finally, and most importantly, the nature of the organisation meant I had the very real privilege to work alongside a truly diverse set of people that I probably wound not find in the average run of the mill data science/software company - individuals who had lived in Antarctica for 3 years, ironman champions, divers... all the way up to people who had worked in Forensics and big banks. The leadership team is also very competent, talented and empathic too. In another life, the CTO could have easily become a concert pianist if he wanted to. In conclusion, I couldn't recommend Basecamp Research enough. It's an incredibly special start up with an incredibly exciting mission. The potential is huge. It's going to be a fast paced environment but if you're up for the challenge, you're going to be entering a rocketship on course for an amazing journey up ahead. Good luck.
