Svantaggi
Where do I start? B&BW is my second job. I'm a full time college student and I needed a second job. First off, the wage is awful. You make exactly minimum wage. You get call ins, which are ridiculous. You get set shifts and call-ins where you have to call in one to two hours before the call in and see if they need you. They've never needed my call ins; ever. You can't switch shifts because people are ranked on levels from 1-3 and the GM doesn't like to sign off on hour changes. What little hours you do get are often cut because payroll is so small and conversion is often low (40%). You have to talk to customers and shove products in their faces. I personally have sensitive sinuses so I always get a headache when I work here. And I refuse to do product demos on customers. I often don't up-sell to customers and instead talk to them and get to know them and help them find things; that way if they do need something, they're more likely to trust my judgment because I don't seem like I'm trying to make a sale. Regardless of what people think, we don't get commission. At all. ever. There's no incentive to work hard and there's literally almost no room for advancement. Training is a joke. Associates are often catty and snobbish. They're rude and degrading to new employees. They let the phone ring 20+ times before picking it up and their phone etiquette is appalling. I once called in to find out my call ins and one of the associates asked me in a rude manner if I even worked there after waiting on hold for 10 minutes and calling twice before because the phone just kept ringing. Asssociates are clique-y, as they are in most places. Associates often complain about their workload which I find very light considering I'm used to working in a clothing store. Dress code is annoying. You have to wear all black; the GM told me to wear all black even though in the guidebook it says you can wear white shirts and khaki coloured pants. You can't have more than 2 ear piercings, facial piercings cannot be visible, and tattoos must be covered up at all times. Your employee discount accounts for practically nothing because you can't use it on sale items, so it's pointless to even have an employee discount for 75% of the stores products, save Fekkai, Wexler, True Blue Spa, and C.O. Bigelow.
