The work doesn't generally require any experience, or even a relevant educational background. They like to make people hourly, and because of that it's pretty easy to make your own pay as long as you're willing to put in the hours. It's a great job to start out with, then trade up to a better one or grad school.

Upper management is abysmal. So much so that upon realizing employees were upset at low pay and virtual lack of benefits, they amended the company vision to remove "community" from it, and deliberately decided that the new direction for the company was to double down on things we're already good at instead of addressing actual employee concerns. I mentioned low pay. We get paid 25% below industry average, and you only get paid that well if you trade PTO for a higher hourly. You can make your own hours and hence your own pay, but you're going to have to be at work 7 days a week just to make the same amount as a QC Analyst at, well, any other company. As far as PTO and vacation, you get 10-12 days, plus federal holidays, but that's it. As far as working conditions, people are nice, but upper management refuses to invest in the equipment you'll need to do your job, or in additional employees to make your workload more reasonable. This means that yes, if you're in QC, you'll have to help all the other operations departments, and they'll have to help you. Everyone has to do storage work in logistics. You will face burnout probably by your 3rd month, and there will be no real support for it aside from your fellow lab personnel (although they are the absolute best). If you were hoping to grow with the company, think again. Revenue has increased, wages have not. People haven’t been promoted or given pay raises corresponding to positions they did get, although they have been asked to take on all the responsibilities of those higher positions. You will absolutely learn new techniques which will improve your career, but only because you’ll need to crosstrain for other departments, not because you’re going to be promoted.
