Vantaggi
There's a lot of smart people who want the organization to succeed. Good health insurance, vacation benefits, and parental leave.
Svantaggi
Upper management isn't really sure how to run a business in my opinion. They lucked into an early-mover advantage in the market by being a primary provider of COVID wastewater testing with municipal and federal public health organizations, but seems to have fallen behind competitors in their offerings. I never felt that they adequately advertise or market their services and it's unclear to me how they're going to grow their position in the industry despite insisting in company-wide meetings that they will double their revenue YOY. The tech team has significant tech debt and is barely cleaning up messes before moving on to the next solution. Resources aren't adequately allocated and management just seems to throw new hires at velocity problems. Management was hiring aggressively up until May then radio silence and then a month later announced company-wide layoffs. They then reached out months later trying to refill some of those laid off positions. I'm unsure what their plan is or whether they can grow moving forward.
