Some of the time you might be consulting for another company, and they will probably not be as awesome.

Hands off managers: You work directly with your clients and generally set your own schedule and workload.

Hands off managers. They seem to be checked out of wanting to be quality people managers. Lack of inspiration. Dispersed team with little to no chance to bond. A true lack of direction and leadership. It's not a place for designers who value growth, or strong leaders. Not a good outlook for the design team in general.
