Vantaggi
In my experience, this was the first environment I have worked in that felt there was true transparency, that my voice mattered (when I had done my homework, rather than just have opinions). You get the chance to be involved on other aspects (then engineering) to the extent you have interest.
I saw a review about this place not being suitable unless you are senior. The way I saw it, if you are a strong problem solver who takes ownership to do the work and figure things out (with the help your team), you will be just fine and thrive.
No fighting or A-type personality needed here as people are collaborative.
Svantaggi
Like most things in life, a lot of things can be good or bad depending on perspective and how far it goes. Working with Government can be frustrating given you don't alway control things (e.g. infrastructure), but the setup they have tries to insulate the team from those aspects so the company can move at its own pace rather than be tied down to inefficiencies of Government customers, which works to a great deal. Can it get it better? Sure, but then again every workplace has issues they are working on to improve, the question is what is red flag to you?
It is fair to say that junior engineers will struggle as there is little room for continuous coaching given the fast pace.
