Vantaggi
Competitive compensation for the area, everyone is friendly, most managers are super flexible and understanding - they want to see you succeed (but are foiled by the BR system - see below)
Svantaggi
Poor leadership: Teams are constantly re-organizing which wouldn't be/isn't a problem when you have retained talent to train new employees on tech. At BlackRock there are some teams that have absolutely no support and they just throw you into the job with 0 experience - then MD and Directors are asking you to do things you have no idea how to do. Its been a terrible experience. Additionally, I was persuaded to stay when I was offered a job at another company in role that was aligned with my previous roles because leadership told me that is the role they would transition me to. It was a complete lie. Culture: While everyone I have worked with at BlackRock is friendly, the atmosphere of the company is one of 'everything is critical'. Given the nature of that mentality little is done to improve broken processes or properly train new employees, rather you're thrown 'into the fire' (quoting multiple people) with minimal support for things that are always 'urgent'. Carrer: If you are able to overcome all of these challenges and leadership 'likies' you, you'll succeed. However, being good at your job does not seem correlated to promotions, rather how senior leaders feel about you. You can be instrumental in making decisions on project or working on them and still get bad feedback because you don't want to dedicate your evenings to networking after hours with senior leaders.
