Vantaggi
A good charitable donation matching programme. Gender diversity at MD level is reasonably well balanced.
Svantaggi
Onboarding: consists of about 20+ mandatory compliance training. There is no handover, training or guidance when you start in your role, zero support from manager or colleagues. You have to self learn on the job, my own experience is that no one in my team was willing or had the time to give me guidance on anything, not even on the use of Aladdin. A number of reviewers on this platform have commented on the outdated and lack of tech. I couldn’t even get access to Smartsheets. No access to any useful tools to do your job e.g. Smart Sheets or MS Project. Their L&D library is totally inadequate. I never once received any in person training. Excessive workload: the demand is that everything is done/delivered now. No allowance is made if you don’t have the knowledge or need a little time to get up to speed or if you are juggling multiple tasks or projects. So you end up having to work extremely long hours to meet impossible deadlines with no guidance from management resulting in the most awful work life balance. It was the norm to work 6 days a week, and Monday to Friday was at least a 12 hour day. Well washing: if you ask for any kind of help or support or even vaguely mention that you need some guidance you will marked down in your review as being incapable of performing even if you hit every single deadline you were set. When I raised it with HR their response was “do you want to be referred to occupational health”. Managers and HR simply don’t care about mental health, they promote their WellBeing offering but when you try to access it you immediately realise it has no substance, even the employee networks are just symbolic. The unlimited holiday is a total joke, I have never taken less holiday in my career, the expectations is you cannot take holiday if you have a deadline and there was always a deadline to meet – I took no more than 20 days holiday in a 16-month period. Culture & environment: I only experienced coercive control from management and witnessed a zero tolerance for criticism or questions or try to give your manager feedback. People management skills are sadly lacking. Career and skillset stagnation: don’t expect to be promoted within the first 5 years unless you join as an analyst and even they have to wait 2-3 years. There is zero investment in developing staff.
